Orthokeratology

Research has shown that more kids living in the modern world are becoming myopic, as they are spending less time outdoors.

Orthokeratology is the reduction, modification or elimination of short-sightedness (Myopia) by the programmed application of gas permeable contact lenses and may reduce the rate of increase of myopia.

Suitable prescriptions are up to -4.50 dioptres, with or without low levels of astigmatism.

This means that the person can function without glasses or contact lenses during the day, by wearing specially designed gas permeable contact lenses overnight to reshape the corneas in a controlled fashion. When the desired result has been achieved the new corneal shape is maintained by means of retainer lenses.

Orthokeratology will give you freedom with the safety of total reversibility. The process naturally occurs in parts of the body. E.g Wearing a ring leaves an imprint of the ring on your finger. This is cell movement caused by hydrostatic forces under the ring. If you leave the ring off for a few weeks then the imprint disappears and the finger returns to its original shape. Exactly the same happens to the corneas with Orthokeratology and 60% of people need only to wear the contact lenses every other night to get the full effects.
